Bridlington School is a maintained secondary school for 11 - 18 year olds, based in Bridlington. We were judged to be a good school in our most recent Ofsted inspection in June 2017. Our ambition is to become an outstanding school and we are working extremely hard to achieve this goal. We have approximately 980 students on roll and numbers are increasing year on year as our reputation as a centre of excellence grows. In 2017, for the 6th consecutive year we won the SSAT Excellence Award for the exceptional progress our students make between Year 7 and Year 11. We have a vibrant 6th form staffed by a dedicated team who ensure not only the best outcomes for the students in a variety of Academic and Vocational courses but also support their next steps into higher education, employment or apprenticeships.
At Bridlington School we are passionate about being at the forefront of leading teaching and learning, we believe passionately in ‘growing our own’ staff and have a strong track record of doing this very effectively. We currently have three middle leaders that were trained to become teachers by us and one who is now a senior leader. Five NQTs who started with us are now in the extended leadership team. In November 2018 one of our NQT teachers won the local hero teacher of the year award.
Our ‘Bridlington School family’ places wellbeing at the heart of what we do. Our purpose centers around our school motto which is taken from the Latin from our original logo and directly translates as ‘They hand on the torch of life’. Our vision is to be an inclusive community where so students’ passion for learning is ignited, they are excited by achievement and recognised for success.

Ron Dearing UTC is a brand new school for 14-19 year olds, which opened in Hull city centre in September 2017. Working in close partnership with The University of Hull and the region’s leading employers (KCOM, RB Siemens Gamesa, Smith & Nephew, Spencer Group and C4DI to name but a few), we provide our students with a totally unique way to learn. Equipped with industry-standard engineering and digital equipment, including a £370,000 Virtual Reality Cave, our school is the most technically advanced learning establishment in the UK. Our high quality provision ensures that our students acquire the academic and professional qualifications and the personal and employability skills they need to give them the edge in our rapidly evolving digital world. In response to the increasing needs of local industry within our region, we specialise in STEM with specialisms in Mechatronics and Digital Technology.
Although the development of employability skills and technical and applied learning is extremely high priority at Ron Dearing UTC, we are an academic institution and all our students study a range of academic subjects alongside technical and professional qualifications. Whilst the English Baccalaureate is not part of our curriculum offer, the school’s performance in terms of the key benchmarks of Progress 8, Attainment 8, Basics and ALPs is of the highest priority. We also believe passionately in the development of creativity and high quality literacy and oracy skills. Art and English are therefore have equal status with the STEM curriculum. Our broad enrichment curriculum includes, music, drama, art, debating and sport as well as activities which are directly linked to our specialisms.
Currently we have four hundred and sixty students on roll and have been hugely oversubscribed since opening. Over the next four years, numbers will increase to six hundred (one hundred and fifty in each year group). Our students come predominantly from Hull and the East Riding. Unlike students attending other schools, they have made a proactive choice to attend Ron Dearing UTC because they have high aspirations and are passionate about the employer - engaged model of learning and the curriculum we offer.
