Applications for September 2022 are now open!
As well as following our bespoke and robust curriculum to gain Qualified Teacher Status, you will also work on deep academic study of pedagogy to gain your Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). The University of Sunderland will award the Postgraduate Certificate of Education. We work with The University of Sunderland because their ethos aligns with ours: a relentless prioritisation of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, an incredibly strong trainee support network and PGCE assignments that align with both our curriculum and needs of our placement schools. Colleagues from University of Sunderland will deliver their sessions to trainees either in person at GORSE SCITT venues in Leeds, Bradford, Hull and East Yorkshire or online. Trainees will never be expected to attend a session in Sunderland.
During the training year you will complete two assignments: the first will require to research how your placement school works to reduce barriers to learning for various cohorts of pupils and the second will require you to reflect on an aspect of your own practice that you would like to improve. Both assignments will be supported by your reading of academic literature in pedagogy.
