How to apply to GORSE SCITT

BEFORE YOU APPLY

  • If you have engaged with us, for example through school experience we are happy to receive a CV from you with a view to supporting your application
  • Think about your references – you can’t submit your application without them being complete
  • Make sure your referees are aware of your application and respond to UCAS in a timely way
  • The application through UCAS costs £1

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Go to our Post Graduate Teacher Training Courses page and select the course you wish to apply for.

Once you have selected a course from that list. Within that courses page scroll to the “Apply” section near the bottom and follow the “Apply on the UCAS website” link.

Register with UCAS. Or if you already have an account, simply login using your credentials.

Fill out the application form and submit.

If at any point during any of your application process you require further assistance, please contact our team.

Once we have received your application we aim to respond to you within 2 working days.

WHAT IS APPLY 1 AND APPLY 2?

Using UCASs Apply 1 you have the right to apply to three providers and we encourage you to do so. We also encourage you to attend all interviews you are called to, if you cannot make your interview contact your training provider as soon as possible.

Should you not receive an offer through Apply 1, you will become eligible to apply to other providers through Apply 2.

YOUR INTERVIEW WITH GORSE SCITT – WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • An introduction to the ethos of GORSE SCITT and an outline of the programme.
  • You will deliver a 5 minute presentation, without the use of technology, to a group of pupils explaining why you want to be a teacher: make this engaging around your subject and leave time for questions.
  • You will also join a lesson with a fully qualified teacher, usually in your subject area, where you will have the opportunity to interact with the students. (60 mins)
  • There will be a formal interview with senior leaders from the SCITT and partner school. This is an opportunity for you to share with us why you want to be a teacher of your subject. (30 mins)
  • You will also complete various written tasks assessing your subject knowledge, numeracy and literacy skills and your attitudes towards education including the safeguarding of children. (90 mins)
  • There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the whole process.
