As we begin a new term, it’s a great time to reflect on the wonderful progress our trainees have made so far.

This month, our central training week offered a host of enriching experiences. Trainees heard from several inspiring keynote speakers, including internationally renowned education expert Dylan Wiliam, who shared practical, evidence-based strategies for improving pupil learning through formative assessment. Author Tina Shingler led an insightful session on unconscious bias, fostering thoughtful discussion through a question-and-answer opportunity. We were also honoured to welcome Sir John Townsley, CEO of GORSE Academies Trust, who spoke passionately about the Trust’s mission to break the link between poverty and academic underachievement and highlighted the transformational work taking place across The GORSE Academies Trust.

Throughout the month, trainees had the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, including Aqib Mahmood from The Stephen Longfellow Academy and Rachael Law, Director of Specialist Provision. Both shared their expertise on supporting students with SEND, providing valuable guidance and first-hand insight into inclusive teaching practices.

Trainees also took part in an enhancement day, visiting placements in Leeds, Bradford, and Hull to deepen their understanding of different educational settings and broaden their professional experience. As we move into the Enhancing Phase of our curriculum, we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to all our trainees, mentors, and partners for their continued hard work and dedication. We look forward to the upcoming round of observations as we approach the final term.
