GORSE SCITT’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Trainee Steering Group Launches for Academic Year 2022 2023

GORSE SCITT is committed to providing a training and educational environment which recognises and celebrates diversity and removes barriers to individuals realising their full potential.

Our commitment is to reflect the communities we serve. We believe it is important for students in all schools to have access to teachers and leaders from all backgrounds. We therefore strive to recruit candidates from diverse backgrounds and support them to thrive on our programmes, from starting as a trainee teacher to becoming a senior leader in schools, education and beyond. We support an education system that has diversity within its curriculum and in its workforce.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Trainee Steering Group launched this month and will focus on ensuring that GORSE SCITT remains committed to providing a training programme that recognises and celebrates diversity.

One member of the group commented that:

‘From my time researching GORSE SCITT for my application, and what I have seen throughout my time in training, I can safely say that GORSE is dedicated to making the environment for trainees a truly diverse, safe space for all.

It is understandable, however, that GORSE is endeavouring to improve upon this work. I believe that achieving diversity, equity, and inclusion for all is a collaborative process involving open communication and continuous work. That is why I think reaching out to trainees for their opinions on improving diversity, equity and inclusion is so important. And, I am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to this process.’

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Group meets each half term to discuss how the GORSE SCITT programme can continue to be inclusive for all.
