February 2025 Trainee Update

Another half term has passed in a flash, and we are excited to be heading towards spring! This month our lead mentor observations have been in full swing with link tutors visiting their trainees in placements across Leeds, Bradford and Hull, to watch the wonderful progress that is being made.

As we enter the embedding stage of the curriculum, the trainees have focused on adapting their practice to meet the needs of all learners. Trainees worked with our Executive Director Helen Carr to explore resilience and challenge as well as exploring cooperative learning strategies through the Kagan Principles.

At GORSE SCITT trainees receive two hours subject training per week with a key leader across the GORSE Academy Trust. Our music trainees have been lucky enough to visit Hillcrest Primary this month to complete a drumming workshop and enhance their knowledge and experience, reflecting on how this can impact their own practice – a fantastic opportunity!

Interviews have been in full swing with lots of successful candidates receiving a place to complete their ITT year with GORSE SCITT – we will be looking forward to welcoming them in the coming months. We have also had a series of well attended information evenings to discuss the routes to achieving QTS – to find out more about our up-and-coming events and taster days contact us at [email protected] and follow us on social media @GORSESCITT.
