GORSE SCITT Community Choir

GORSE SCITT’s first Community Choir launched on Wednesday 2 November. At GORSE SCITT, we understand the importance of creating an environment for trainees where they are encouraged to explore a broad range of experiences and contribute to their SCITT community. We want trainees to have a strong sense of belonging as well as the sense that they are valued as individuals, and that their skills and strengths are celebrated.

Our SCITT Community Choir is run by the SCITT Music Subject Lead, with the help of the secondary music trainees, and other trainees who have volunteered to provide instrumental accompaniment support.

Following this initial launch, the choir will meet regularly during their training year and is a great chance for them to contribute to the wider life of the SCITT.

As in previous years, the SCITT choir will perform at graduation. Members of the SCITT Community Choir will also have the opportunity to take part in a piece of research with the SCITT Music Subject Lead, for her MA with The University of Sheffield, who plans to research the impact of musical participation in the choir on trainees’ sense of belonging to the SCITT and impact on their own classroom practice.
