Congratulations GORSE SCITT cohort 2019-20! An unbelievable teacher training year is completed this week here at GORSE SCITT, we could not be any prouder of our Trainees for successfully completing their Teacher Training whilst in the middle of a global pandemic, gaining both QTS and PGCE.  Although we are not able to fully celebrate these incredible achievements in our usual way at Elland Road just yet, we look forward to celebrating with our entire cohort via Zoom this week. Our Trainees share their highlights of their training year and look back at some of their favourite moments.

I have loved learning from outstanding teachers, in both of my placements and making friends along the way!

I finally found my place in the world with the best people supporting me – I am only the person I am because of you wonderful people!

Every member of staff was welcoming and helpful, in particular all of the year 6 staff and our professional mentor. The children were incredibly polite, vibrant and had a thirst for learning which made my job all the more enjoyable.

I have loved being on the GORSE SCITT this year it’s been an exceptional experience. New people, new friends, new lessons, new resources. What’s not to like?

I loved Taking part in the year 6 open evening. I helped to run a medieval doctor’s surgery with the history department. It was such an exciting and busy evening and when I definitely knew that teaching was for me!

I loved all of the support I received from my peers and colleagues whilst on placement. It felt like being part of a family, and were in it together!

I loved being a part of GORSE SCITT. A highlight of my training year was helping to produce the Year 2 Nativity. My 2 placements have given me a great deal of experience and I look forward to taking what I have learnt and applying it in September with my new Year 3 Class!

I loved the comradery amongst trainees, support received from Gorse HQ and building fantastic working relationships with staff members at placement schools and the young people that they serve. Thank you for a brilliant year.

Good schools are like good societies and good families who celebrate and cherish diversity. Truly inspirational!

I loved getting the chance to present a Superstar of the Week certificate to a pupil in Friday assembly in front of their parents and peers and explaining just how amazing they are!

Being welcomed into both my placement schools with such respect and finding my “inner-teacher”.  I also loved The Away Day’s- contemporary dancing like a hippo, wearing battle clothes through the ages. And making life-long friends within SCITT.
