We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our 2024-2025 cohort, who this month successfully completed their teacher training and have officially gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). After a year of dedication, resilience, and hard work in schools across the region of Leeds, Bradford, Hull and East Yorkshire our trainees are now ready to take their next steps as Early Career Teachers. Congratulations – you did it!

To mark this incredible milestone, we hosted a joyful graduation celebration at our central training base in Leeds City Centre. The event was a heart warming morning filled with pride, laughter, and reflection as trainees were joined by friends, family, and GORSE SCITT staff to celebrate their success. It was a special opportunity to recognise the journey our trainees have taken – the progress they have made, the challenges they have overcome, and the lifelong friendships they have built along the way.

This month we also welcomed our incoming 2025-2026 cohort to the GORSE SCITT training programme through our induction evening. The event was an opportunity for new trainees to meet their peers, get to know the GORSE team, and begin their journey into the teaching profession. There was a real sense of excitement, as new trainees looked forward to the journey ahead.

Although our programme for September 2025 is almost full, we are still conducting interviews for the final few places. If you are considering a career in teaching and are passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you. Our teacher training programme offers a supportive, school-centred route into the profession, combining hands-on classroom experience with expert-led training and mentoring. There has never been a better time to take that first step.

As we say goodbye to one remarkable group of trainees and prepare to support a new cohort on their teaching journey, we take a moment to reflect on our central mission. Our vision is to nurture committed and passionate trainees into responsive and reflective teachers, equipped with the knowledge and skills required to give every young person they teach – regardless of background – the Gift of Choice.
