Teaching School Hub Status

The GORSE Academies Trust, which GORSE SCITT is a central part of, was originally awarded Teaching School Hub status in 2021, and redesignated in 2024. Responsibility rests with the trust to ensure that all colleagues, regardless of where they are within their careers, can access high quality, evidenced informed professional development that directly impacts on the children within our city. This includes Initial Teacher Training through GORSE SCITT, The Early Career Teacher Entitlement for teachers in their first two years of teaching and National Professional Qualifications for teachers and leaders who are in, or aspiring to be in, roles with additional responsibilities. From September 2026, Leeds Teaching School Hub is also delighted to be involved in delivering the new national professional development courses from the DfE’s Teacher Training Entitlement. 

Leeds Teaching School Hub and GORSE SCITT work in close partnership to ensure that the golden thread of teacher development is delivered to the highest standard across the Leeds city region and beyond. 

Application Process

The application process to secure teaching school hub status for Leeds was rigorous and challenging. Ultimately, we were successful in our application because we do great things with all pupils including those whose lives are characterised by privation. We do this through expertly planned teaching, inspiring leadership and an attention to detail which is increasingly renowned.

A major focus of the Leeds Teaching School Hub will be around developing a transformational, city wide approach to pre-school educational entitlement and Early Years and Foundation Stage education. We are also devoted to ensuring that disadvantaged children remain our central point of focus in all that we do.
