Spring has officially begun here at GORSE SCITT, and what a busy term it has been. Our recruitment events have been in full swing, with our team visiting Elliot Hudson College as part of their Future Focus Week, hosting a Step into Teaching event at our GORSE SCITT training base in Leeds, and attending careers fairs at the University of Bradford and the University of Leeds. It has been wonderful to speak to so many prospective Initial Teacher Training applicants who are keen to begin their teaching career journey with us.

Throughout our March training, the focus has been on oracy, delivered through Intensive Training and Practice. The GORSE SCITT Oracy ITaP equips our trainees with the skills needed to create dialogic classrooms, in which all students have the tools and confidence to express their opinions and engage in debate around curriculum content. With oracy skills being among the most important transferable skills that employers are looking for, this will ultimately open doors for the young people our trainees go on to teach. It has been wonderful to observe this first-hand through our lead mentor observations in school.

As our second term comes to a close, we look forward to seeing trainees build on this positive momentum and become ECT ready as they enter the enhancing phase of our curriculum. Many have already secured employment for September, and we are busy supporting those who have interviews in the coming weeks.
