It has been another exciting and highly productive month at GORSE SCITT. We are delighted to see our trainees making such strong progress as they approach the final stages of their training.

Our Lead Mentors have been visiting trainees across Leeds, Bradford, and Hull, and it has been fantastic to witness their growing confidence as they prepare to take the next step into their roles as Early Career Teachers (ECTs). We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our exceptional mentors. It has been a pleasure to observe alongside you in recent weeks and to hear such positive feedback from our trainees.

As Miriam, a secondary Art trainee, reflected:

“My mentor has witnessed my progression from teaching a stumbling 10-minute starter in my first week to delivering 16 lessons a week by the end of the course. He has supported me through some of my most humbling moments, as well as my best—when everything has fallen into place and real learning has taken place for both my students and me.

He has been patient, supportive, and encouraging throughout, giving me the freedom to reflect and grow into the teacher I have always wanted to be. I will always be grateful to have been paired with such a wonderful mentor.”

We have also had the pleasure of hosting numerous interviews at our central training base in Leeds City Centre. Many outstanding candidates have already secured places in our 2026–2027 cohort, and we look forward to welcoming more applicants over the coming weeks.
