October has been another busy and inspiring month at GORSE SCITT. We officially opened applications for our September 2026 intake, and our team has been hard at work supporting prospective applicants through one-to-one application guidance, as well as hosting both remote and in-person information evenings. We have many more events planned in the coming months, so please get in touch if you would like to learn more about our courses and take your first steps towards a rewarding career in teaching.

Our trainees across primary, secondary and post-16 continue to make fantastic progress in their placements; it has been wonderful to hear about their development through feedback from our dedicated mentors. Our primary trainees recently enjoyed an exciting day at the Little London Academy with their music subject expert, taking part in West African djembe drumming workshops with Year 3 pupils, and expanding their knowledge of the music curriculum. They also got hands-on in science, exploring experiments ranging from magnetism to bubbles, bringing science to life through practical, engaging learning experiences.

During our central training week, trainees had the privilege of attending training sessions with Tom Bennett, whose evidence-informed training encouraged reflection on high expectations, routines, rewards, and sanctions in preparation for their upcoming Intensive Training and Practice enactments in schools. In addition, trainees took part in an enhancement day, visiting placements in Leeds, Bradford, and Hull to deepen their understanding of different educational settings, broaden their professional experience, and reflect on their own practice.

We are incredibly proud of how our trainees are growing professionally and we are grateful to our partner schools and mentors for their continued commitment and support. As lead mentor observations begin this week, we look forward to seeing our trainees’ progress come to life in the classroom as they enter the developing phase of our curriculum.
