Internship Scheme
We are delighted to offer Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Design Technology and Modern Foreign Languages undergraduates and masters students, the opportunity to earn £455 per week this summer on the Department for Education Internship scheme to learn about teaching at secondary school level.
Salary: £455 per week
Programme Dates: 22 June-10 July 2026
Current undergraduates in their second, third or final year, and master’s students who are studying for a degree in STEM-related subjects or languages will be undertake a three week paid internship one of the following subjects:
Please note that all subjects will not be available at all academies, interns will be allocated one of the schools below, once all intern places have been recruited to.

Why complete an internship?
- You’ll get real experience of life in the classroom, and a chance to teach your own lesson. That means you’ll gain skills such as presenting, communication and sharing feedback, which are highly sought after by graduate employers.
- You will spend three weeks in school observing teachers, have the opportunity to see effective leadership in action, and consider how to develop your own teaching and leadership style.
- If you want to try some teaching, you will get the opportunity to put into practice all the skills you’ve learned and observed during the experience. You will get to see if teaching is for you!
- At the end of the internship, if you would like to, you’ll have the opportunity to put everything you’ve learned into practice and be given an opportunity to accelerate your interview process for the GORSE SCITT programme.
