Training Opportunities
We are able to specialise your teacher training to the key stage you are wanting to teach. If you are wanting your experience to be most reflected in early years then our training provides you with placements in nursery, reception and Key stage 1 and enhancements are available in Key stage 2 for the continuation of your development.
Primary 3 – 7
Our primary 3-7 programme will develop your skills in teaching outstanding lessons for primary school pupils. We will use our evidence-informed programme to ensure that you have all the necessary skills to plan and deliver the early years framework in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and the national curriculum in key stage 1 (KS1).
During your placements, you will develop your pedagogy and practice through working alongside highly experienced school colleagues who have taught successfully in primary schools for many years. In addition to being placed in two contrasting primary schools, we also provide you with experience in a provision for under 3s and in key stage 2 (KS2) in order to give you a deeper understanding of a child’s educational journey.
Throughout the programme, you will work closely with your professional mentor, mentor and subject lead to ensure that you get all the support you need to become an excellent teacher.
Primary 5 – 11
Our primary programme will develop your skills in teaching outstanding lessons for primary school pupils. We will use our evidence-informed training programme to ensure that you have all the necessary skills to plan and deliver the national curriculum in key stage 1 (KS1) and key stage 2 (KS2) whilst also developing a knowledge and understanding of the early years framework and the importance of this in relation to KS1 and KS2.
During your placements, you will develop your pedagogy and practice through working alongside highly experienced school colleagues who have taught successfully in primary schools for many years. In addition to being placed in two contrasting primary schools, we also provide you with experience in an early years setting and in a secondary school in order to give you a deeper understanding of a child’s educational journey.
Throughout the programme, you will work closely with your professional mentor, mentor and subject lead to ensure that you get all the support you need to become an excellent teacher.
Primary 3-7 (Part-Time) and Primary 5-11 (Part-Time)
The primary part-time courses are designed specifically for people who have family commitments or need to work while training. You will attend a mixture of central, subject and placement training for the first year. You will have two placements over the course of the programme which reflect your chosen route.  The training for the second year will be placement based.
The first year will comprise of full training weeks as outlined below:
You will attend your placement school on Tuesday and Wednesday (except for the training weeks) and central and subject training on a Thursday.
There are two options for the second year of the programme:
Option one: you will spend Tuesday to Friday at your placement in school and the course will be completed by the end of the autumn term.
Option two: you will spend Tuesday to Thursday at your placement school and the course will be completed by February half term.
Primary 5-11 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
All of our primary programmes prepare trainees to meet the needs of all pupils. The Primary with SEND programme is designed for people who aspire to teach in a specialist resource provision, or to gain further experience of working with pupils with complex needs.
Our primary programme will develop your skills in teaching outstanding lessons for primary school pupils. We will use our evidence-informed training programme to ensure that you have all the necessary skills to plan and deliver the national curriculum in key stage 1 (KS1) and key stage 2 (KS2) whilst also developing a knowledge and understanding of the early years framework and the importance of this in relation to KS1 and KS2.
During your placements, you will develop your pedagogy and practice through working alongside highly experienced school colleagues who have taught successfully in primary schools for many years. In addition to being placed in two contrasting primary schools, we also provide you with experience in an early years setting and in a secondary school in order to give you a deeper understanding of a child’s educational journey. In addition, you will have an extended placement within a specialist resource provision to develop your knowledge and skills in working with pupils with SEND and complex needs.
Throughout the programme, you will work closely with your professional mentor, mentor and subject lead to ensure that you get all the support you need to become an excellent teacher. There will be additional training and support from key SEND leaders as preparation for, and during your placement in the specialist resource provision.
