September 2025 Trainee Update
We have started the new academic year at GORSE SCITT with energy, ambition, and a real sense of momentum; we feel privileged to welcome such a diverse and talented cohort of trainee teachers.
September has seen a packed induction programme, which has set the foundations for success. As trainees enter the preparing phase of the course, they have covered a range of training sessions including safeguarding, adaptive teaching, lesson planning, and preparation for school placements. A major highlight was our Intensive Training and Practice Days, which focused on ‘Expectations, Routines, Sanctions and Rewards.’ Trainees had the chance to visit our fantastic partner schools, observing expert teachers in action and reflecting on how educational theory translates into real-world practice.
September also marked the start of our trainees’ first school placements; what an incredible start it has been. Placed in schools across Leeds, Bradford, Hull, and East Yorkshire, our trainees have already made a strong impression on their Professional Mentors. Following an initial week of observation, they have begun planning and delivering their first lessons and very soon our Lead Mentor team will be visiting to observe the progress they have made and conduct 1 to 1 welfare meetings.
We are already proud of the enthusiasm, professionalism, and potential our new cohort has shown. This is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to see how they continue to grow and thrive throughout the year.
