COVID-19 has majorly impacted the way organisations work and GORSE SCITT has adopted processes to meet the requirements of our Trainees, recruits and wider. Our Trainees have been receiving supported sessions with us for their training and we have been maintaining our recruitment processes online.
How have we been adapting to these changes?
We are recruiting for Primary and Secondary subjects for teacher training starting September 2020. Applications are still live and can be submitted via UCAS or through the APPLY system. Our interviews are taking place via Zoom and these are being hosted by the leads of our central team, including: Director of our Leeds hub, Principal of Teaching Schools, our Deputy Directors and Director of Primary. As well as this interview, candidates will also complete their written work electronically to be returned to us for marking.
Subject Knowledge Enhancement:
Candidates completing our Subject Knowledge Enhancement programme are able to utilise the online resources to enrich their knowledge of their chosen teaching subject before the programme commences. Our SKE is through our virtual portal in partnership with VidLearn where work is completed and assessed by leads in the designated subject area.
Our open evenings are also still taking place, these are online via Zoom, with our leading central team staff including our Leeds Director and Principal of Teaching Schools. These are extremely useful to speak with our team about the application process, what teacher training includes and your year as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT).
We are extremely proud of our current training cohort who are engaging diligently with training from home via Zoom. Continuing to host these sessions online with our Trainees as a group has been phenomenal, the sense of community is something we are honoured to be a part of.
