Trainee Update – End of Term

What a busy yet wonderful term! Not only have our trainees experienced their second Intensive Training and Practice (ITAP) week, including a session from government advisor, Tom Bennett, they have also had an ‘enhancement day’ in another setting. Experiences included alternative or specialist provision and the opportunity to spend a day in a different phase.

Link Tutors have been out and about observing lessons, and are so impressed with the progress our trainees are making. Central training has been looking at how children learn, metacognition, assessment, professional behaviours, well-being and diversity, equality and inclusion. The final week of term has had a focus on adaptive and inclusive practice; training included strategic seating and interaction plans, effective use of teaching assistants, and English as an additional language. Trainees also met Principals from our Trust schools as part of their preparation for employment training session. The choir have been busy performing for our trainees, as well as at the White Rose Centre in Leeds. We have also been wearing Christmas Jumpers to raise money for Save the Children and donating gifts for Mission Christmas! We look forward to a well-earned rest so that we are raring to go in the New Year.
